Design Thinking
Workshop Title: Elevating User Experience Through Human-Centered Design Thinking
Duration: 4-6 hours (adjust as needed)
Workshop Objectives
- Understand the core concepts of Human-Centered Design (HCD).
- Identify user pain points and needs on the sales website.
- Brainstorm innovative solutions that prioritize user experience.
- Develop prototypes that address user concerns.
- Test and gather feedback on the prototypes to refine the website updates.
Agenda
1. Introduction to Human-Centered Design (30 minutes)
- Explain the fundamental principles of HCD: empathy, user involvement, iteration.
- Showcase examples of successful website improvements using HCD principles.
- Emphasize the importance of putting the user at the center of design decisions.
2. Empathize with Users (60 minutes)
- Introduce the empathize phase: understanding users' goals, pain points, and behaviors.
- Review existing user data, such as analytics and feedback.
- Conduct virtual or in-person interviews with potential customers to gain insights.
- Create user personas and journey maps to visualize the user experience.
3. Define User Needs (30 minutes)
- Summarize the insights gathered during the empathy phase.
- Craft a clear problem statement that highlights user pain points.
- Prioritize the identified user needs for focus.
4. Ideate Innovative Solutions (60 minutes)
- Explain the ideation phase: generating creative solutions.
- Organize a collaborative brainstorming session using techniques like brainwriting or the 6-3-5 method.
- Encourage participants to generate both incremental and radical ideas.
5. Prototype User-Centric Solutions (90 minutes)
- Introduce the prototype phase: creating tangible representations of ideas.
- Provide design tools (e.g., wireframing software) for participants to build prototypes.
- Divide participants into groups, assigning specific user pain points to address.
- Each group develops a prototype that addresses the identified pain points.
6. Test and Gather Feedback (60 minutes)
- Explain the importance of testing prototypes with real users.
- Conduct usability testing sessions with volunteers or potential customers.
- Participants present their prototypes and gather feedback from users.
- Encourage participants to ask open-ended questions to understand user reactions.
7. Refine and Iterate (30 minutes)
- Discuss the insights gained from user testing.
- Emphasize the iterative nature of HCD: refining and improving prototypes based on feedback.
- Encourage participants to incorporate user feedback into their prototypes.
8. Closing and Implementation Strategy (30 minutes)
- Summarize the workshop's key takeaways.
- Discuss how the generated insights and prototypes will inform the sales website updates.
- Outline the implementation plan, highlighting the prioritized changes.
